gear ratio?

I am putting a 26' searay back together as a project boat. I have a mercruiser 260 engine. I have been given an alpha one gen one outdrive but do not know what gear ratio I have or should have or how to identify. Any help would be appreciated.

The ratio you need is a 1.5 or 1.47. If you count the teeth on the upper gears it should be 20/22. To determine what gears are in your current unit you should count the teeth. This thread will show you the tooth counts: http://www.sterndrive.cc/vbforum/showthread.php?t=577
