I have about 1 hour on my newly installed lower SE116. Shifts into both forward and reverse fine but it's showing problems when I try to shift out of gear. It basically stays in gear while my hand shifter is locked in the up/neutral position. Again, this happens when trying to get out of either forward or reverse.
Always shifted fine before I installed the new lower.
Any ideas on what I can check?

Most likely you just need a shift adjustment. You can email tech@sterndrive.cc for a document on how to adjust the shift cable.

Thanks for the info. I emailed and received the file.
So why does this happen? I would think that a direct swap wouldn't cause a situation requiring an adjustment. I did pull the Upper Unit to inspect the gimbal bearing and it went back into place perfectly but what do I know?! After triple inspection all parts were reassembled correctly.
Thanks,
Ed

While staying within the allowable tolerances the shift mechanisms can vary by a degree or so and sometimes require shift cable adjustment.
