What Drive is it

I need a new outdrive, Boat is a 1975 Bellboy 19 ft, with a 302 V8 ford, The outdrive says Mercrusier 888 on it. I have been told it is an Alpha 1, but today I was told it is not. I want to buy one of yours, but am not sure what to buy or if it will fit my existing transom, Gimble housing.... help

Your drive is considered an "R" drive, but a SE106 drive will fit. It would actually be considered an upgrade because the gears in the lower are stronger.
