New or Old style

I am planning to replace my entire leg. I have a 1987, 1:1.84 Alpha 1 on a
3.7L inline 4 cylinder Mercrusier. I need to know if I need the old or the new style SE106, 1:1.81

A 1987 should have the new style input shaft. You can verify by measuring from the end of the shaft to the front of the flange by the gimbal bearing seat. The new style shaft measures 9 9/16" while the old style was 8 1/8".
