View Full Version : Takes big Muscle to shift (and grind!)

Hello,
I can shift my less than one year old se106 from forward to reverse (in the water), but it takes great force to do so, and it grinds some on top of that. If I do it quickly, the grinding is reduced but it clunks or pops loudly as I slam into the opposite gear. With the amount of force I must use to change gear direction, i'm afraid I'll bust something. The boat sat (dry) for about 4 months by the way. Any ideas what's going on here?

Thanks,

Jet

Trouble coming out of gear indicates a problem with the shift cutout switch. If you have the boat out of the water it should shift easier with no load on the prop. Email kevin@sterndrive.cc and request the document covering shift cable and cutout switch adjustment.
