Thrust washer or not

I have a Alpha one gen. 1 outdrive
With my 19 pitch prop.if I use the thrust hub it pushes the prop so far back that it doesn't let me install the splined washer onto the splines

If I use my 17 pitch it lets me use the thrust hub,
Is it OK to use the 19 without the thrust hub
it appears to fit fine and not rub on anything
These are both props that have been given to me so not for sure they are correct for my boat

You must use a thrust washer for the prop or you will damage the lower unit. There are two different thrust washers for the Alpha props. You should be able to pick up the correct one at a West Marine store or a local prop shop.
