I'm hoping someone can answer this.A guy is wanting to sell me an Alpha one generation 1 outdrive case that has been rebuilt. Says it has alpha one generation 2 heavy duty gears in it, Is this possible
he said a professional marine mechanic rebuilt it,I didn't know if the gen. 2 gears would fit the gen. 1 case

Assuming you are talking about the gears in the lower unit, No one makes the 17-28 tooth gears any more so you would have no choice but to use the new 13-21 gears. The gears fit in the Gen 1 and Gen 2 cases with no problems. The 13-21 gears have been around for about 10 years now.
