Can I use Synthetic Gear Lube?

Hi,
I received new outdrive today and didn't have time to take out of package. My question is this. Have you done any testing using synthetic gear lubes. Specificly I was going to use Amsoil's Marine gear lube. I thought this would be a good option since much of our use in Michigan is in very cold water, sometimes just above frezzing and this lube stays fluid in these conditions. If this is not prefered please advise.

I normally recommend Mercruiser High Performance Gearlube.
We have not done any testing with other lubes, although i think with a high quality synthetic lube designed for marine use, you should be fine.
