I see one gear oil filler screw on the upper unit only how does the lower unit get lubrication?

The unit shares the oil between the upper and lower. To fill the drive, you need to pump the oil from the bottom hole until it comes out the top hole. Trying to fill it from the top will leave an air pocket in the drive and it will fail the first time out.
