Drive Gear Ratio

Hi,

How can I determine the gear ratio of my drive? the boat is a 1983 Searay with a 260 outdrive. All the stickers are old so I can't find the model/serial number. The power package installation manual that came with the boat shows that the 260 can be 1.32:1 or 1.5:1 in the prop sellection section of the manual. Thanks

From my experience the 1.5 ratio would be correct. Even if it was a 1.32, there are no affordable options for that ratio, so it would be worth it to get the 1.5 and put a slightly smaller prop on.

I turned drive by hand and 1.5 turns on input shaft turned prop shaft about (not exactly) 1 turn. So I guess the 1.47:1 would be the best for my boat. You work late or keep a sharp eye on posts that was quick responce. Thanks for your help I am getting closer to ordering.
