UPPER CASE SEAL

when replacing the waterpump on my unit,as i split the upper from the lower housing the Oring on the output shaft tore the seal on the upper housing. my dealer sold me two seals ,but my unit only had one seal with the spring facing outwards is this correct,and if so what keeps the oil from leaking out from upper housing?

There is another seal higher up. To replace it you need to disassemble the upper unit. In your case, Just change the seal that is torn and you will probably be okay.
